Welcome back witches!
It’s Friday which used to mean something to some people! But today it mostly just means that we are going to be checking in with the throat chakra for the fifth episode of this very informal but fun late-night chakra challenge!
Hello and welcome to the wrinkle of time in which this blog post now exists! I’m glad you’ve stumbled into this little internet wormhole because today we’re chatting about a subject that is near and dear to my heart: the heart chakra!
Hi, sparkling iridescent beauties!
Welcome to the third very late evening of our chakra challenge, where we will be casually chatting about what in the world is going on in the area in your solar plexus chakra!
Happy new moon, mythical creatures!
Welcome to our second day (ok, night, but what does time even mean anymore) of getting to know our chakras. Today let’s take a closer look at the sacral chakra. Technically the sacrum is a bony structure located at the lower spine, but this energy center encompasses the entire area from your belly button to your pelvic floor. Emotionally, it is associated with our passion, inspiration, sensuality, and creativity.
Hello, sparkling effervescent life forms!
Well here we are, it’s Monday. And that means absolutely nothing because we’re in quarantine and all that’s currently scheduled all week is STAYING THE FUCK HOME! Even in my “normal” work reality, Mondays are usually my Fridays, so my case of the Mondays is usually a happy feeling anyway. But here we are, just another day at the start of another week, with nothing on the books. So I thought, why not create something fun to work through this week? Enter my chakra challenge!
I really enjoyed chatting about chakras the other day and was thinking, we have seven open days this week and seven main chakra points in the body. So why not use each day to focus on giving each chakra a little love? Working from the bottom up, let’s use this time to really get to know ourselves on a deeper level and work through any funkiness we find so that we can meet whatever the heck lies ahead standing strong within ourselves.
Hello, ethereal beings on Earth!
I’m reporting to you from day 4 of “shelter in place” in the witch cave. My little slice of life has been full of magic and meditation, but I still can’t help but feel like I’m watching the world fall apart in slow motion around me. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way, so today I felt like touching on a way we can keep ourselves together throughout these trying times.
I am a firm believer that our inner reality becomes our outer reality. When you feel strong and balanced as a whole, you are better equipped to manifest harmony and around you. One super effective way to take stock of what’s going on inside you is by using the chakra system. Although chakras have become a super popular subject, I have noticed in many of my conversations about them that a lot of people still find them a bit far-fetched and mysterious. So I figured now would be a perfect time to explain how this ancient system can have relevance to our lives, and how it just might be the key to keeping your shit together right now.
What a week, world!
We are seeing so many rapid changes to life all over the planet. Here in San Francisco and much of the surrounding area, all residents have received a “shelter in place” order, which effectively means we have to stay at home for the next three weeks! (We are permitted to go outside to take a solo walk or do essential activities, but that’s about it.) These instructions come under undoubtedly scary circumstances, but seeing as the uncertain future is largely out of our control, we need to turn our attention to what we can do.
It is all too easy to succumb to fear in the face of the unknown. But who is that helping? It’s been scientifically proven that stress is crappy for your immune system. And whether you spend this time panicking or doing something productive, the time will pass anyway. We may not know exactly what lies ahead, but we know that we have this time to pause and collect ourselves. Life rarely takes such a significant pause. I hereby propose that we take this time to reflect and recharge so we can move forward with strength when the time comes. This time offers an opportunity to realign ourselves with what matters most.
The darkest times are over, really: December 21st brought us the longest night of the year, also known as the winter solstice, and with it, the year’s longest visible full moon. To see the culmination of our darkest nights meet the bright glow of our fully illuminated moon was a powerful reminder that just as the sky can move from shadows into light, so can our consciousness. It is no new school of thought to view the end of the year as a time to shed what is no longer serving us, and direct our focus where it is truly needed. But this isn’t just a time to make a new year’s resolution and call it a day (or night); it is a time to reflect inward on what truly matters to you, and how you can move forward with intent to better align your life with your soul’s purpose. This journal meditation will assist you in processing what you have been through, so you can learn from it and decide where to go from here.
Is there something following you around? I’m not talking about your shadow or your adorable cat, I’m talking about that baggage, girl. Have you ever had something occupy your thoughts and cloud your mood even when you’re totally removed from the situation for the time being? If you’ve faced a sad situation that’s making you bummed way after the fact, or a stressful situation you can’t seem to shake even after you’ve left, or if you just need help feeling positive right now, hear me out! There’s one simple way you can look at little moments that will spill over to brightening up your whole life. It’s a bite-size present moment meditation available to go, and it goes like this:
I’ve been a busy witch lately, and like most of us, I have no shortage of responsibilities to keep up with! I’ve noticed that my day-to-day routine keeps me constantly occupied and although I am glad to never feel bored, I have been left with precious little free time for my magical endeavors. I’m sure many can relate — although it would be nice to always be able to set aside a scheduled moment for spiritual reflection, it doesn’t always seem possible. Sometimes we ache to delve into our inner work but can’t set aside more than a moment. So how can we squeeze in a little magic without any wiggle room? You don’t need any extra time or materials — a bit of creativity is all you need to create a magical meditation space anytime, anywhere!
