Post-420 Reflections & Four of Cups: Your Tarot Tuesday

Greetings, earthlings! I hope everyone had a fabulous 4/20 4/20 from home. Word on the street is it’s a Tuesday, so here we are already again for another Tarot Tuesday! Is it just me or is time becoming less and less real? Tomorrow will be my weekly plant watering Wednesday and that felt like yesterday. Anyway, let’s chat about life, cannabis, and the Four of Cups.

When I did my yearly tarot reading for 2020 with two different decks, both of them gave me the Four of Cups card for April. It is becoming quite clear why this card could be especially worth emphasizing this month! The Four of Cups describes a life situation that is not satisfying or ideal to you, even if it is not actively horrible. The figure pictured in the card is in a state of pause and contemplation, not taking action on any of the offerings before him. It is a card that suggests being dissatisfied with the current status quo and taking a moment to gather yourself before any further action. These opportunities will be there for you when you are ready.

This situation seems to mirror most of our world’s current situation; taking as much of a pause as possible from action, isolating and reflecting. This card is also a nudging reminder to refocus on gratitude; if you currently have a roof over your head, if you can currently breathe, that is something to be deeply grateful for. Perhaps the cloud carrying a cup as an offering is bringing the gift of another day of breath and life that must be appreciated.

In honor of the recent holiday, and this card’s trippy cloud of smoke, tree, and grass, I think it is worth mentioning that it is pretty awesome that we now have increased access to and appreciation for cannabis. This medicinal healing flower is a part of life here in California and has greatly helped me with my anxiety, insomnia, and chronic pain over the years. I am thankful I have been able to avoid using pharmaceutical drugs with crazy side effects. So many others I know have been able to improve their health and quality of lives with access to this plant. Everyone working to ensure we still have safe access to cannabis during this time deserves so much appreciation! Now more than ever it is helpful to have a gentle comforting herb that has benefits for both our mental and physical health.

So please stay home and stay chill! Contemplate your future options and what you want to change, but please also remember to be grateful for everything you have in this moment. The more you are grateful, the more you will find you have to be grateful for. And a little weed might be all you need.
